To quote the song 'Show us the Ancient Path' ... 'We want to leave a clear set of footprints for those who will follow behind, signposts in our lives that point to Jesus, a pathway they'll easily find.
In Joshua 4, God instructed the children of Israel to take stones from the river bed and set them up as a memorial – or a remembrance – of how He dried up the river for them to cross safely. Later, when people asked ‘What do these stones mean?’ they were to tell the story of what God did. There is something powerful about re-telling a God story … it strengthens your faith and gives you hope for the future; it encourages those around you and leaves a legacy of faith for the generations to come.
These days when we want to remember something we are more likely to take a photo than build a stone altar. By combining our photos with our God stories, we can transform a humble family album into a testimony of God's grace!
The Lord has used the process of Faithbooking to strengthen my faith. Each book He has led me to create has taken me on a journey of discovery. I now take other women on that journey in hands-on workshops. He has taught me principles that He wants me to share. Each workshop has a lesson, not about craft, but about faith ... about capturing the fingerprints of God in your life ... about the power of gratitude ... about the need to affirm others ... about insight into the trials of marriage ... and about God's faithfulness to His promises.
I am indebted to Rhonda Anderson, co-founder of Creative Memories, and Naomi Shedd, author of 'Pictures with Purpose', for their encouragement and for generously sharing their resources.
